TikTok Shop’s new feature matches lower prices from other sites in real time and promises to refund the difference to live shoppers.
What is Live Price Match?
LIVE Price Match Guaranteed is a new program TikTok is rolling out during its upcoming Deals for You Days shopping event (July 7–19).
So say for example, if you’re watching a TikTok Shop livestream and see a product you want, you can buy it knowing you’ll get the best price.
If you happen to find the same product cheaper on another eligible U.S. shopping site, TikTok will refund you the difference in price as cashback.
In other words, TikTok is literally “price matching” against other platforms in real time to give live shoppers the lowest deal.
TikTok says terms and conditions apply, but the basic promise is a refund of the price difference if a lower price is found off-platform.
This feature will debut with big discounts. During Deals for You Days, prices on TikTok Shop will be up to 50% off across categories, and TikTok’s Price Match guarantee will be active on select livestreams featuring those deals.
TikTok Shop has been expanding rapidly in the U.S.
TikTok recently shared new stats on TikTok Shop’s growth in the U.S., showing a 120% increase in U.S. sales year-over-year.
Users also spent over 8 million hours watching live shopping streams last year, and more than 75% of TikTok Shop users bought something via livestream.
At the same time, TikTok’s future in the U.S. is still uncertain, with Trump extending the TikTok sale deadline again to give ByteDance more time to divest U.S. operations.
TikTok’s Live Price Match is a clever and aggressive move to boost its ecommerce section as a mainstream player.
