X, formerly Twitter, has been seen rolling out tools to help creators earn more and keep audiences on the platform.
‘Putting creators first’
X’s official Business account tweeted from Cannes Lions 2025:
“We’re putting creators first. From expanded content formats, like vertical and 4K video, to our generous revenue‑sharing program, creators can now earn a sustainable living from their content on X.”
That sums up X’s current push.
1. 4K video uploads for premium creators
In May, X’s creator team announced that US creators could start uploading 4K video.
Now it’s live for all Premium users on mobile and desktop. This lets creators share sharper, high-res video without relying on other platforms.
2. 4K livestreaming
X has also included 4K livestreaming support. Their official post shows this feature live and gives creators a high-quality broadcast option.
3. Vertical video feed expansion
Back in January, X introduced a dedicated vertical video feed in the US . It added a “Video” tab in the bottom navigation.
In the months since, this vertical view has gone global – available on iOS worldwide, as reported by TechCrunch. This makes it easier for creators to post and fans to discover video content in a TikTok‑style format.
Last year, X already expanded access to its vertical video ad format, previously limited, now available to all advertisers.
4. Creator revenue‑sharing program
X has been expanding its revenue-sharing program for creators.
Eligible creators who post original content can earn money based on engagement from Premium users. Payouts go through Stripe every two weeks.
While details like exact payouts aren’t always public, X says it wants creators to build a living on the platform. That ties directly to the “putting creators first” messaging they’ve shared.
What’s next
X seems focused on giving creators both tools and income.
But success depends on how payouts scale and if playback tools catch up with YouTube and TikTok. For now, it’s clear creators matter more on X.
